Standing on the hill leading to Shiroyama Park and the remains of Takayama Castle, surrounded by greenery, Hoshokaku is about three-minute walk from Jinya early-morning market, the old
town and other popular sightseeing spots. An authentic Japanese style inn, it prides itself on its tranquil atmosphere.
Upon entering the hotel, visitors’ eyes are drawn to the imposing ceiling beams and the tatami passageway leading off the hall. The Japanese-style rooms display the beauty and skill of
Hida architecture and craftsmen, while the western and combined Japanese-western rooms offer luxurious comfort.
There was a dominant Takayama Castle in “Shiroyama” district during Edo period. Please enjoy a view of the townscape which was once prosperous center of the castletown, looking down from the upland in the same way as the feudal lord had done in the past,
Every room is designed to provide the highest standard of comfort for all of our guests; families, couples or groups. There are rooms with private open-air baths overlooking the city, Japanese rooms where guests can savour peace and tranquillity, and western and combined Japanese-western rooms where guests can relax at ease.
Both the women’s and men’s baths offer two open-air baths, one of cypress wood with a pleasant feel and wide rim, and the other of stone. The foot bath over looking the city of Takayama
on the fifth floor is also available for the enjoyment of all of our guests for free.The relaxation spa on the fifth floor is the special room for ladies which has a planetarium room,
massage chair and also open-air baths as healing.

To ensure that every guest’s stay is a memorable one, Hoshokaku strives to satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur with meals made from a wide variety of carefully selected seasonal
ingredients from Hida Takayama.
Dinner is Kyoto-style Hida kaiseki (a set of dishes served on an individual tray), that aims to retain the natural flavour of the ingredients.
Guests can enjoy delicacies such as Hida beef, freshwater fish and edible wild plants served in a traditionally attractive manner.
* All meals are Japanese style. Western style and vegetarian meals are not available. (No provisions are available for special dietary needs.)
* Breakfast is not a buffet meal. We serve you a breakfast individually.
